Topics: Diabetic Nephropathy Diabetic Nephropathy Symptoms

Details: I have Diabetic Nephropathy and normal kidney function. Protein in urine in 24 hours is 1198.90mg on 17th March 2015. Kindly suggest how to decrease protein in urine.

Expert Answer

According to the progression of Diabetic Nephropathy, it can be divided into five stages. In the early stage, patients’ kidney function and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) are still normal or even higher than the normal value. At this time, if diabetic kidney disease can be controlled well, patients can reverse their kidney damage and stop the progression of their kidney disease for long time.

Normally, the amount of protein in the urine is very small that won’t be more than 150mg/24h. For diabetics, proteinuria or albuminuria is the first sign of kidney damage. Proteinuria 1198.90mg/24h is much higher than the normal, so patients should take prompt treatments to improve their overall health condition.

Because protein leakage is due to damaged kidneys, Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy which can help deal with impaired kidney filtering structure and improve patients’ overall health condition are recommended. For patients with Diabetic Nephropathy, this therapy can also help prompt the regeneration of impaired pancreatic cells. Therefore, it can also manage high blood sugar and diabetes-related complications. As long as kidneys can work normally, proteinuria can be reduced from the root.
