Why Do PKD Patients Feel Tingling or Weird Sensation in Legs

Why Do PKD Patients Feel Tingling or Weird Sensation in LegsPolycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is one type of chronic kidney disease. With the growth of kidney cysts, they may attack various organs or systems. Some PKD patients do complain tinkling or weird sensation in legs. Why do these PKD patients feel this sensation in their legs?

This discomfort usually appears in moderate or end stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease, and several conditions can lead to this problem.

One leading cause is enlarged kidney cysts. As time goes on, PKD patients’ kidney cysts become bigger and bigger. When some of them are bigger than 3 cm, they will compress their surrounding tissues and organs. As a result, nerves in legs are pulled and patients feel tingling and weird sensation in legs easily.

The second cause is the deposit of waste products and toxins. When kidney functioning tissues are damaged by enlarged kidney cysts, they are unable to filter blood normally. Accordingly, more and more waste products and toxins build up in the blood. Then, they may damage nerve all over the body as well as in legs via blood circulation. Finally, tingling or weird sensation in legs occurs.

The third cause is poor blood circulation in legs. As kidneys filter blood abnormally, blood circulation will be disturbed largely. Then, less blood flows into kidneys and all over the body, resulting in some discomfortable sensation.

Additionally, diabetes is also reason for tingling or weird sensation in legs. Although it isn’t common that PKD and diabetes occur in the same patient, diabetes does affect some PKD patients’ health especially elderly patients.

Now, we have found out the underlying cause of this discomfort for PKD patients. The next thing we need to do is to manage it from controlling the underlying cause. If you haven’t found effective treatments, you can ask help from doctors at Kidney Service China. They can help you not only relieve your symptoms but also shrink your kidney cysts successfully.
